The figure of Pier Paolo Pasolini, an extraordinary writer, poet, and director, but above all the critical conscience of the country, continues to embody one of the most lucid, complex, and prophetic voices in our cultural history. The exhibition Pasolini. Pitture Paesaggi Persone represents a journey into Pasolini's lesser-explored art, moving between paintings, landscapes, and human portraits, rediscovered through an exhibition and a catalogue that investigate their connection to memory, the land, and civil resistance. The project, born from the desire to enhance an archival and documentary collection of extraordinary importance, preserved and curated at the prestigious Gabinetto G.P. Vieusseux in Florence, comes to life in the rooms of the Antica Grancia in Serre di Rapolano, a symbolic place of the rural civilization that Pasolini always strenuously celebrated. The exhibition path, enriched by a dialogue with Giuseppe Zigaina and projected toward the contemporary through the analysis of the short film Omelia Contadina by JR and Alice Rohrwacher, restores the power of his painterly stroke as an act of resistance against homogenization and the loss of a world subjugated and threatened by the prevailing consumer society. The catalogue accompanies the exhibition with essays, an updated biography, and a dedicated bibliography, offering an unprecedented look at Pasolini the painter.
A unique opportunity to rediscover a free and prophetic gaze, capable of giving voice to the landscapes and people of his own time and continuing to challenge our own.
